Naturally, this discount is offered for drivers with clean driving records. Good driver discounts can be added when your Motor Vehicle Report or CLUE report is pulled at the inception of your auto policy. If you're convinced you have a clean driving record — meaning no at-fault accidents or violations — and aren't receiving a discount, speak with your insurance company and ask if they offer a discount for good drivers. By keeping a clean slate, you can earn a discount of approximately 10% while avoiding the costly penalties listed below.

Comprehensive car insurance coverage helps pay for damage to your covered vehicle (up to its actual cash value), minus any deductible amount, when the damage is caused by events such as fire, theft, glass breakage, riot, windstorm, and hail. It does not cover damage that is the result of a car accident unless the accident is due to an animal, like hitting a deer, for example. The availability of comprehensive auto insurance coverage varies by state. Comprehensive car insurance (also referred to as “other than collision” insurance in some states) is optional insurance coverage, but if you are financing or leasing your car, your lender will likely require that you have comprehensive car insurance coverage.
Now flash forward present day. Last month I had a wreck. It was not my fault. I called USAA to get my rental covered because the cop wouldn’t give me the @ fault driver’s info said I had to wait for the police report. USAA informs me that I don’t have rental. Excuse me 3 months ago when I added collision I told you add rental & you said you would. USAA claims I did not tell them that, but I know I did because Roadside made it but not rental? Now mind you my Escalade is totalled. The frame is warped among many other things. I’m not @ fault & USAA (my own insurance company) tries to screw me? (The @ fault driver’s insurance company is someone I’ve never heard of but it’s not USAA) The adjustor says not totalled we’ll settle for 10Gs…. no I’m not settling for 10Gs on 50G+ truck especially with a warped frame NO WAY!! I’ve lost major retail value & nobody will buy it with the carfax that’s attached to it now.

How much you drive — or your annual mileage — is an influential rating factor in places like California but can still positively and negatively affect your premium in other states. If you live in California, you can expect a 25% gap in average annual premiums between those who drive up to 7,500 miles a year and those who drive more than 15,000 miles a year. On average, the less you drive, the more it saves you — but this impact is minor.
