Young drivers — aged between 16 and 25 — pay very high car insurance rates, with those aged 16-19 paying the most expensive premiums of all. Because of the risk presented by inexperienced drivers, teen drivers pay more than three times the national average for car insurance. I had gotten The General Insurance because it was cheaper! Big mistake! I was recently in an accident and when I claimed it nothing was wrong and they processed the claim! A week later after they had gotten the police report and had done the estimate we were told it was being processed and someone would be in contact! Not only did I have to call the person handling the claim numerous time to find out any information on it I had to call after I had not heard anything from the about the claim. I was then told that our insurance lapsed the day of the accident. I paid every month on the same date the 27th.

Allstate has stated intentions of reducing its exposure in hurricane-prone Florida. In November 2006, Allstate did not renew 120,000 policies that were expiring at that time. Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida Cabinet passed a 90-day emergency order to temporarily prevent insurance companies from nonrenewing policies. On February 20, 2007, Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty clarified the order, stating that insurance companies can nonrenew policies if they satisfy certain conditions, including filing new, lower rates with the state and give customers 100 days’ notice.
