Jump up ^ In some cases, Allstate proposed settlement amounts as small as $50, asking claimants to "take it or leave it". The investigative report found that insurance companies often make it so expensive and time consuming to go to court to get full settlement amounts, that it would not be worth the victims time. The claims handled in the matter were very minor collision type losses that did not result in any ($0) damage to the car, and therefore was the insurance company protecting its assets and the premium paying public money, by keeping rates as low as possible."Auto insurers play hardball in minor-crash claims". I had a policy for a year, at renewal time they increased my rates $10 per month for no reason. I had no accidents nor tickets. I researched other insurance options and found out I was paying way too much! I ended up getting a policy at Nationwide with a little better coverage, including roadside assistance for less than half than what I was paying on my original policy with The General! I was amazed. Then I felt dumb that when I originally bought The General policy I used one of those sites that supposedly check all sites for the best rates, but actually it only checks the 4-5 that pay to be on the site. Live and learn, and now I pay a whole lot less!

"When I bought my car from the dealer ship they added and deleted the insurance on it the same day, than when I had an electrical short they tried to tell me I only put liability insurance on it which could not have happened for 2 reasons. 1. You cannot drive off the car lot without full coverage. 2. I work for the postal service as a rural carrier and I have to have full coverage with endorsements in order to work there. Therefore it took me 3 weeks of arguing back and forth and telling them to pull the recordings for them to fix my car and I never even got an apology or them admitting that they were wrong."
Insurance companies can't use your income to determine your rate so we cannot definitively say the two are related. Still, looking at the use of your credit score, education, homeowner status, zip code, and insurance history, it is easy to see the two have an inverse relationship. Looking for discounts, shopping for car insurance every 6 months are great ways to start on saving on insurance when you can't change the previously listed variables. When those fail, consider government or other special programs help.
If you carry the minimum required coverage in Oklahoma, prepare to pay an average of $693 annually. This is pricier than the nationwide average by 5%. If you elect more comprehensive coverage, you can purchase a policy with comprehensive and collision coverage, which will protect against damages caused by vehicular collisions, auto theft, or weather incidents. However, better insurance comes at a price: in Oklahoma, a comprehensive policy with a $1,000 deductible costs $1,384, 100% more than basic liability-only coverage. For a comprehensive policy with a $500 deductible, expect to pay 126% more than you might for basic liability-only coverage.
The insurer allows you to buy a policy if you have a suspended or revoked driver’s license, as long as you have been licensed at some point and have a driver’s license number to put on your application. The company is authorized to file an SR-22, a form for high-risk drivers submitted to your state’s DMV or traffic authority that shows you carry your state’s minimum liability requirements, in any state where you are applying for insurance.
