In addition, while The General makes it easy to get a quote and streamlines the process of obtaining coverage, many drivers report a complicated claims process that often results in unsatisfactory payouts. This also holds true for repairs — customers have noted that The General often does its best to keep from paying for coverage it promised. If you’re at the end of the road when it comes to insurance options, The General may be able to provide you with a policy, but we wouldn’t recommend it for most drivers.
They put me in debt over $190, I'm only 20 years old. Had the insurance for less than a month, they were so nice when they were receiving my card number of course. But once I canceled to move onto a BETTER company they were no longer helpful, said I owed more money when it was paid and they sent what I refused to pay to collections. Of course the lady heard nasty words from me because she was honestly a **. To keep it real they screwed me over entirely. They are good with fraud, real expensive, and have no locations unless you’re in Kentucky I believe. So my opinion, they are trash. Everyone who works for them that I have experienced is rude as hell. They don’t care about anything about you besides the money you’re forking over. So I suggest you NOT consider them at any point. Disgusting company that should definitely not even exist. Thanks for reading.
You get what you pay for. Super cheap rates at an exchange for meticore service. If you've had trouble in the past due to several claims chances are The General will get you covered at a lower price than leading insurance companies. Let's just hope you've changed your driving habits because if you DO get into an accident be prepared to wait they are pretty slow about resolving claims and paying the repair companies who… read more

In addition, Allstate also offers a wide range of insurance endorsements and riders.
Keep in mind that online customer reviews don’t always tell the entire story. Most customers will only go online if they have an overwhelmingly negative experience, which is why you won’t see as many positive reviews. Take these customer reviews with a grain of salt, and try to speak with friends and family to learn about their experience with the company.
Accident Forgiveness: Allstate waives the typical premium increase and accident surcharge when you get into an accident. The scope of forgiveness (major vs. minor accident) varies by the insured’s driving history and number of years as an Allstate customer. Depending on the level of the plan and the driver's accident-free record, this can mean one to several accidents forgiven over the course of three years without an increase in rates nor removal of the Good Driver Discount. However, for drivers insured in California, the Accident Forgiveness feature is limited, and you could still lose the Good Driver Discount.
Type of car: If you have an expensive or powerful car then you are seen as a higher risk for a number of reasons. If it’s expensive, it has a higher risk of being stolen. If it’s powerful, it’s deemed more at risk of getting into an accident driving at speed. If you want to see how your car impacts your insurance, you can check which insurance group it’s in for an indication.
I recently had my insurance policy canceled with another company, which caused a whole bunch of issues for me. The biggest issue was that my license had become suspended. I fixed all my fines, and got my license back. When searching for a new car insurance company I tried many different companies, but no one really wanted to help me because of the recent suspension, or the prices were sky high. I came across The… read more
The General Auto Insurance Company writes auto insurance exclusively. The auto policy offers bodily injury liability, property damage liability, comprehensive, collision, medical payments and uninsured motorist coverage (coverage options for uninsured motorist depends on state of residence.) SR-22 insurance is available for drivers who have to file a financial responsibility filing with their state of residence showing proof of insurance coverage.

Drivers who are “high risk” often find it difficult to get car insurance. Whether they have poor credit, bad driving records (or both), these customers are expensive for companies to insure. But The General seems to target high-risk drivers specifically. Not surprisingly, The General auto insurance quotes come in pretty high when compared to its competitors, but for high-risk drivers, these prices are actually pretty low. For more details, read more about The General auto insurance quotes.
Wow I know the General Automotive commercial from anywhere for as long as I can remember! It was time for me to renew my auto insurance since my policy slightly increased with my previous insurance carrier. So I finally decide to give the General a try. At first I received a quote online that I felt comfortable with. I call them the next day, the service was friendly and fast. They talked to me and… read more
Young drivers (those between the ages of 16 and 25) pay extraordinarily high auto insurance rates, with those aged 16-19 paying the most expensive premiums of all. Because of the risk presented by inexperienced drivers, teens pay more than three times the national average for car insurance. In Virginia, the average teen driver pays $3,747 — approximately $1,200 less than the national teen driver average, but more than three times as much as an older driver in Virginia.
The company’s ability to meet customer claims doesn’t translate to a smooth and painless claims experience. In fact, the company has a complaint rating of 2.12 from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), compared to the national median of 1.00. The rating signifies that The General has a disproportionate number of negative ratings. Furthermore, an overwhelming number of reviews cite constant rate increases and slow claims processing.

If your vehicle is damaged in a car crash, auto insurance can help pay for your repairs. The General insurance partners with auto repair shops all over the nation to help you get your car back on the road as fast as possible. Your policy may even cover a rental car until your repairs are done. In most cases, all you have to pay is a small deductible. And if your car is damaged beyond repair, car insurance from The General may help you buy a new vehicle.
On August 23, 2017, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an emergency bulletin (Bulletin B-0009-17) declaring multiple counties as disaster areas due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. As a result of the historic flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey, and the extensive displacement of Texas citizens, Combined Insurance customers residing in the Texas counties noted below may be eligible for a due date extension of their Combined policy renewal premium payments due, as well as any deadlines to submit claim proof of loss. Please contact Combined’s Customer Care Center at 800-225-4500 with any questions.
Drivers with good driving records typically enjoy lower car insurance costs than drivers with histories of speeding tickets, at-fault accidents, or DUI citations. Oklahoma drivers without a recent at-fault accident typically save 31% on their car insurance premiums — nearly matching the 32% US average. In addition to earning a cheaper premium for driving incident-free, you may qualify for a safe-driving bonus through your car insurance company. The amount of these discounts may vary, but they typically run between 5 and 10%.
The General Automobile Insurance Services, Inc. (or simply The General) is a licensed insurance agency that is a subsidiary of PGC Holdings Corp. (PGC), that focuses on auto insurance. In 2012, the company was acquired by American Family Insurance; The General brand still remains as a separate brand. The General specializes in insuring drivers who are considered "high risk," whose car insurance premiums are typically more expensive.
Other pros of Progressive include it being an online company. You can get a quote directly from the Progressive website without having to speak to an agent. Cons of Progressive involve its customer service. Customers in the J.D. Power survey only gave mediocre remarks for Progressive for its buying experience and claims handling process. It isn't the worst, but Progressive is far from the best in the field. Because of this, Progressive might be the best insurer ideally for customers prioritizing low rates, especially after an accident, and do not mind a bit more cumbersome claims handling process.
Some companies spend a lot of money on commercials that try to convince you they offer the lowest car insurance rates. But prices that different people pay for the same coverage by the same company can vary widely. No single insurer can claim to be the low-price leader for everyone. The insurance company that’s cheapest for one person in one place might be the most expensive option for a driver in another state.

For a smooth cancellation request, start with your local agent. If you’re hoping to avoid any sales pitch to stay with the provider, you can mail in your written notice, though The General might still contact you to confirm cancellation. The insurer operates offices all over Louisiana. If you live close by, you can pop in to cancel your policy in person.
With a $100 deductible on comprehensive and collision coverage, he would pay roughly $120 a month. Raising that deductible to $250 brought the bill down to about $100 a month. A $500 deductible reduced the monthly bill to $90, and a $1,000 deductible pushed it all the way down to $82. That means he could save $456 a year by choosing the $1,000 deductible instead of the $100 deductible — not a bad sum.
Financial Strength ratings indicate the actual financial ability of an insurance company to deliver on a financial level or their capacity to meet its financial commitments. Below are the ratings for Allstate in each of their divisions with three separate financial ratings providers. As you can see, Allstate ranks highly for financial strength in their insurance markets and capability. The financial strength rating of Allstate is not to be confused as a commentary on actual claims process experience but rather indicates if the company is strong enough to support the financial risk in insurance that they have taken on.
